Beast of the Week- Week 5
What a week! Week 5 found us with one of the most memorable shootouts in recent memory, with Dallas and Denver putting up nearly 100 points. To my delight, Tony Romo still found a way to lose, despite playing the game of his career. Tony would be our Beast of the Week, but I could not live with myself if I gave this award to a Cowboy. Our next pick would be Peyton Manning, but it is getting sadly redundant to acknowledge him. So, this weeks tip of the hat goes to none other than Alshon Jefferey!
Alshon Jeffery had all of the tools to be a first round pick, but slipped into the second round due to some off-the-field concerns. Still, standing 6’3″ and running a 4.48 40 was too hard to resist, and Chicago scooped him up with the 13th pick of the second round. Built like his counterpart Brandon Marshall, Jeffery has shown strong hands and underrated speed through his short career. This week was finally his huge breakout, with the Saints choosing to double Marshall all game.
Jeffrey capitalized on the Saints’ scheme and finished the day with 10 receptions for 217 yards and a touchdown. Congrats Alshon, you’re our Beast of the Week.
Honorable Mention: T.Y. Hilton- 5 receptions for 140 yards and 2 TDs, Julius Thomas- 9 receptions for 122 yards and 2 TDs.
